We got to meet Colin too!

Colin’s mom just came down to the waiting room to say hi. Ian and I went up to the airway floor with her to meet him. He was busy playing in the playroom and was pretty interested to hear that Parker was in with Dr. Cotton getting his trachy trach out. Colin is three and a former micro-preemie. He looks amazing- the scar on his neck is a thing of beauty- his mom tells me that this hospital takes its scars very seriously. Scars are the least of our worries, but it is nice to think that someday down the road we might have to look very hard to see the last remaining reminders of this time in Parker’s life.

It was a little weird in the waiting room to do that last suction and it was really, really weird to walk out of the OR having not handed over a spare trach to the surgical team. We did video tape Parker’s last trach change I will post it here for those who are curious.

So glad that his surgery is going well. I kept sneaking peeks at the blog all day today to check on you all. They do indeed take scars seriously. We call them “brave scars” and Hannah is very proud of hers. After just one year, they have faded tremendously. I think they are beautiful.

Make sure you all get something to eat before he heads to PICU. Trust me.

I’ll keep checking in. Call if you need anything or just need/want to chat. See you tomorrow.

Wow! I’m so excited for you that you get to meet everyone while in Cinci. I can’t wait for the update telling us how it all went and that he’s tucked safely in the ICU and resting from such a big day!
